Welcome. I am Erin Miller, your Bark Busters Dog Trainer and Dog Behavioral Therapist in Grand Rapids. Animals of all kinds, but most notably, dogs and horses, have been an integral part of my life since childhood. Starting with Dalmatians, Dobermans, Airedale Terriers, and my immediate family's dogs including English Labrador Retrievers, Irish Terriers and Dachshunds. My exposure and experience with so many different breeds of dogs not only comes from family dogs, but working with clients dogs every day and through years of attending dog shows. 

For the past two decades I have personally raised, trained and shown my own Champion and Grand Champion Rottweilers in countless American Kennel Club (AKC) and United Kennel Club (UKC) competitions, finishing and titling my dogs in conformation, obedience and rally to name a few.

A few years ago I became a Bark Busters franchise owner and have been working with clients and their dogs in the greater Grand Rapids area including Byron Center, Caledonia, Cedar Springs, Rockford, Kentwood, Wyoming, Grandville, Northview, Forest Hills, Belmont, Cedar Springs, Cuttlerville, Walker, Ada, and more cities and towns throughout the area. 

Many families struggle with dog behavior that becomes untenable, which causes stress for everyone in the home. I help with issues such as aggression, separation anxiety, barking, jumping, leash reactivity and pulling, window and door reactivity, door manners, toileting, sibling rivalry to name a few. I also help clients in preparing to bring a new baby home as well as preparing for and training a new puppy. Using the Bark Busters methods, I can help you see significant improvement in your dog’s behavior in our first training session, improvements that will only strengthen over the weeks.

I train both you and the dog. Dogs learn how to communicate with each other when they are first born. Their Moms teach them how to get along with the rest of the pack using voice commands and body gestures. Pup Moms don’t use treats, or shock or prong collars to get their pups to listen. Neither does Bark Busters. We teach you how to communicate with your dog the way dogs naturally communicate. 

You will see immediate results. Not only will I get to the “root” of why your dog is misbehaving, but I will give you the tactics to change your relationship right from the start. During our first three-hour training lesson you will see your dog’s behavior start to transform. If you keep practicing the methods 10 – 15 minutes/day, you’ll be on your way to a well-behaved dog.

You will learn to be the leader your dog wants and needs. All dogs need their basic needs to be met. Bad dog behavior is often a result of poor leadership. Dogs need safety and security and are looking for you to help guide them to make the best possible choices for your family. I enjoy seeing positive results with my clients and their dog(s) on a daily basis. Once they understand how to better communicate with their dogs they see how quickly the dogs will respond. Over time they will develop a stronger bond and trust with their dog(s) resulting in better behavior, happiness and calm. The relationship every dog owner wants to have with their dog(s).

I have never seen such a quick improvement in my dog! Erin has really helped us get our dog under control and manage his anxiety. Immediately after our first appointment, we saw a huge change in our dogs behavior- he was more calm and less aggressive. With practice and time he has already significantly improved. Erin was fantastic with my dog! From the moment she arrived we got to see what Bark Busters is all about. She gave me so much information and all the tips and tricks that make training my dog a breeze. Since Bark Busters is based on more natural training, my dog even listens without the need for treats (but he still gets plenty of them). Wow! I thought I had good dog knowledge from watching videos online and following dog accounts on social media but I was blown away by the advice and expertise of Erin. The session was customized to our dogs needs and everything made so much sense! The lessons are based in natural roots and we were already seeing results with our dog, Teddy, before the end of the session. We had our first meeting with Erin and she covered a lot of things. She gave us at home exercises to do with our 15 month old female German Shepherd. 2 days into our at home training with Skye she is changing and listening to the entire family, husband, wife, daughter and son, like we never thought possible. I am really completely amazed by how such subtle easy changes into our daily routine that we were completely oblivious too could change our dogs attitude almost immediately. I do understand that we have a lot more work to do but without any question we are headed in the right direction faster than originally thought possible. Erin's knowledge of dog behavior speaks for itself, she knows their language and the proof is in her work, she is amazing at what she does, more importantly how Erin explains the dogs behavior to the family as a whole. Erin did an amazing job and presented herself confidently with my dog. She did a great job explaining how a dog thinks and why dogs do what they do and where their misbehavior stems from. I highly recommend Bark Busters!!!! Their training was effective immediately. I have used other "trainers" and methods and this gave us the quickest change in behavior and understanding. My dogs bad habit(s) changed instantly when I began using the "tools/strategies/tips" that were taught. The corrections are easy and only require consistency from us. I also really appreciated that one piece of the training was solely focused on "understanding" your dog(s) and why they behave in certain ways. This helped us so much!!!! Also, Erin was So GREAT! So grateful for Erin Miller and Bark Busters. We love Sophie….but she can be a lot - especially being a big dog. She could make company uncomfortable because of her size and behavior. Erin took the time to get to know Sophie and her “opportunities” and worked to address her aggressive door behavior and jumping on the couch. Erin spent over 3 hours with us - really getting to know Sophie and helping us to understand the whys behind her behavior. She then thoroughly explained the Bark Busters’ tools and how they will address her behavior and ultimately make her a more relaxed dog. These tools really made a difference. Chris is great!!!, I have a barking dog and although I love him....he needed some work, Chris came over, he did good but then I got a bit lazy and called Chris again for a refresher, she came over, we worked again with Tucker and he is now doing better!!!, what I really appreciate about this program, not just Chris, but also I can call and have her come over and continue to work on specific issues...Thanks Chris from Tucker and me (and I am sure the neighbors).

We have had a pack of 3 to 5 dogs on our farm for over 30 years and never thought we needed a dog trainer. Boy were we wrong. The recent death of one of our Jack Russells combined with the adoption of two puppies created chaos. Chris taught us how to change our behavior to put us back in charge. We just had our first training today with Chris. I won’t lie i was skeptical at first. But then I saw the results first hand. My dogs were aggressive, always barking, very hyper, horrible jumpers, and would never come when I called. With the techniques that Chris gave me I have already been astounded by the results. Kai my oldest dog who is a huge jumper and very hyper has calm down and is jumping is becoming more control. And both of my dogs are actually coming when called I am very hopeful and optimistic for what the next 21 days will bring for me and my dogs.

Christine knocked it out of the park with us and our Shiba Inu. Our dog has always dominated the house and has had difficulties with our newborn joining the fam. She painted a clear picture of how things should be and gave us much needed perspective on what was going on with our dog. I had lost all trust in our dog until Christine came in and taught us how to restructure our relationship.

I was skeptical about training because I thought I could figure it out and perhaps Google would clue me in. Truth is, nothing beats having someone hands on to show you the way.

Chris was amazing!!! I have a four year old stubborn bloodhound and he would go nuts with howling and crying if I had to put him in a room separately from me if someone came over until I could settle him down he would howl and cry the whole time. Well I had to put him in a room so Chris and I could go over everything and when he started up Chris showed me the technique and I never heard a peep after that. We have a fenced in yard and when we let him out to go potty and we call him to come in, lately he ignores us, howls, walks away you name it. Chris showed me what to and how to do the technique to get him in well he has come in every time. This was on a Thursday and on Saturday it is still working. I am beyond happy and feeling so blessed. Chris will be back in 21 days and I am so excited to work with her again. She is wonderful kind and VERY patient.

Chris is a delightful gal! She first sat with us and explained the techniques to be used, thus equipping us before we even approached our new dog.
