My name is Doug Rountree, your Bark Busters Dog Trainer and Dog Behavioral Therapist in East Louisville and assure you that you do not need to struggle with your dog's behavior alone. We can get to the root of the issue and resolve all your dog behavior issues efficiently, effectively, and kindly.

Home dog training and immediate results. I provide in home dog training because this is where your dog can best focus, and where most of your dog's behavior problems occur. Importantly, I partner with you to train your dog. This means more efficient, effective, and longer-lasting outcomes for you and your dog. Together we develop a custom dog training plan to overcome your dog’s specific behavior problems. My dog training primarily involves teaching you how to properly communicate with your dog, how to lead your dog to make better decisions, and allow your canine companion to feel safe and happy in your home.

Dog-friendly methods. I do not believe dog training requires treats, but that treats should be just a treat! Also, I do not use any physical punishment or tools that cause pain. I use positive, humane dog training methods - no shock collars or clicker training.

We adopted Bullet this past May. While he is basically a very sweet and gentle dog he did have some behaviors that I just wasn't having any luck with. He would pull on the leash when out for a walk as well as lunging after passing cars and other dogs. He would jump up on people and bolt out the open door which was very scary. He also would not respond or come when called. I contacted Bark Busters and after the initial 2hr visit my husband and I learned a variety of very effective techniques and corrections that have been amazing for Bullet. He's walking on lead like a gentleman, comes when called, and no longer tries to bolt out the door or lunge at cars. Doug, the trainer came to our house and was very knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend Bark Busters if you're looking for effective, competent training for your fur baby.

I called bark busters in need of help with two new puppies. They were so quick to get back to me and answer all the questions I had. When they came out I was skeptical that neither dog would respond to the training. After the first exercise the dogs were already listening to me. My wife got me a surprise Christmas gift, an 8 week old puppy, Winston. It was a joy to start raising him. Unfortunately he turned out to be a very stubborn and rather rowdy Corgi. He was chewing furniture or anything else he get his teeth on including me!!! He would try to run out the door whenever it was opened ( he succeeded a few times) and barked at anyone coming by. After 7 months I found out about Bark Busters here in Louisville. When Doug arrived for our first 2 hour training session I was very hopeful. We were not disappointed. Doug had Winston minding in no time and very quickly had us trained on how to get Winston to do what we wanted him to do. In less than a week I had a new dog. "I want to let you know my experience with this company and trainer. At the beginning, I was very skeptical as they advertise that I will see improvements on the first day. I have a large breed Dogo Argentino, a strong dangerous dog designed to kill Puma and Wild Boar. I took him to puppy classes and socializing lessons but when he turned 11-13 month old, he became out of control -- very aggressive to strangers and even people or animals he knew before. So I decided to try Bark Busters. When trainer "Doug" came to my house, he told me a few things I must do before he met with Max. Magic works! It was the first time he let a stranger walk into the house. Don't be scared when you hear the price at the beginning, it is worth every penny. Plus, you get lifetime support for your dog and all the accessories required for training. I wish I went with Bark Busters when my dog was 15 weeks old and had not spent all that money for nothing. Most important, they don't use e-collars and other punishing stuff for training, only dog language. Such a happy, good experience!"

Doug is the dog whisperer. He trains the dog but educates the owner how to allow the dog to treat people. His instruction and manner are gentle and respectful and he quickly assesses the dog and situation. We have a 9 month black lab puppy that has lots of energy and loves people. The best way i can describe Doug and this training is AMAZING. My husband was so skeptical and somewhat angry with me for paying the training fee for two hours of training. Mr. Roundtree was very professional and confident. He explained the concepts behind the training strategies concisely and clear. To the point. He was very patient and informative with my questions. I was quite skeptical when he anticipated the results we would see in my dog Charlee in a matter of 15 minutes. We tried the strategy for getting Charlee to stay in the kitchen when the door bell rang and remaining there as Doug and I talked. First time through the process, Charlee, a very aggressive dog (she will attack a strange person or dog) stayed in the kitchen. I was amazed and very hopeful my very loving and affectionate dog with me might one day not get so agitated and aggressive around strangers. I'm very impressed with our first day and am looking forward to learning even more.
