Yes. We are certain that dogs can learn to respond to their humans without treats or bribes because we’ve seen it in action! Our philosophy is to train humans AND their dogs to understand natural dog leadership structures, using positive reinforcement, love, affection, and excitement. There is a time and place for treats (i.e., for trust building or guidance), but we don’t believe in using them as a primary source of communication.
Sometimes the case calls for the use of food to build positive associations; however, Bark Busters does not use a treat-based reward system. Our research and 30-plus years of experience have shown us that praise and affection are the best motivators, particularly in dogs that are stressed, fearful, or not food-driven.
No. Our approach is humane. Pain, punishment, and fear do not work and most often make things worse. Education using clear communication is our key to getting great results and building a trusting, positive relationship between you and your dog.
Our trainers see consistent, dramatic, and sometimes complete behavioral change in their dogs after the first lesson! Pet parents will receive a customized daily training plan to follow after the initial lesson that, if followed consistently, will help maintain the results from the first visit. Trainers often schedule a follow-up session for roughly two weeks after the first lesson to check in and will provide direct contact information should you or your family have questions or need further support – for the life of their dog. Don't just take our word for it, read some of Bark Busters reviews.
First lessons are typically 2-3 hours. Our trainers will talk to you to get a thorough understanding of your goals, then teach (through videos and coaching) the Bark Busters philosophy, working with you and your dog to impart this new form of communication.
The number of visits depends on both your and your dog’s needs. Some people begin seeing progress with their dogs immediately; other dogs have more persistent problems and require numerous visits. We charge a flat fee, so if your case is more challenging or new issues arise, you don’t pay anything extra. We are here to help you get results!
The cost depends on your dog and its issues, your location, and the number of dogs involved. Please contact your local trainer so we can find out more about the situation and provide you with an accurate quote.
Your trainer will learn your dog’s temperament and any behavioral challenges you wish to address. After we determine your training priorities and goals, we will coach you through the exercises best suited for your dog. Our training methods are built on trust and respect between you and your canine companion – techniques we have seen achieve consistent, long-lasting results over our 30-plus years in business.
Bark Busters has developed our own proprietary and highly effective training method, rooted in the same communication system dogs use to educate each other (for example, how a mother teaches her pups). We educate dogs on what you, the pet parent, want or don’t want them to do using a communication style that comes naturally to them.
Every Bark Busters trainer has received extensive instruction to understand how dogs interact, learn, and perceive the world – and we teach you to communicate with your dog in ways they understand. We conduct private, in-home training sessions that are customized to each dog and client’s needs and give you the tools and skills you need to address challenges as they arise. We also offer a life-of-dog guarantee that ensures we are here to help whenever you need us. Any Breed. Any Age. Any Issue. We support our clients and their dogs with everything from puppy training to resolving severe behavioral issues.
